Forest plant protection
The implementation of the EU provisions on plant protection laid down in Council Directive 77/93/EEC (consolidated in 2000/29) via the national 1995 Plant Protection Act, Federal Law Gazette no. 532/1995, brought about a liberalisation of wood imports from European third countries and subjected wood imports from non-European countries to more rigorous conditions than the former national provisions laid down in the Wood Inspection Act [Holzkontrollgesetz] did.
